This isn’t good news! Careful out there, folks.
State agriculture officials say they’ve detected West Nile Virus in a mosquito pool in Pershing County.
The mosquitoes were collected south of Rye Patch Dam at the end of July and tested positive for the virus last week at the Nevada Department of Agriculture’s Animal Disease and Food Safety Laboratory in Reno.
Seriously, is there anything to like about mosquitoes?
Good to hear no one was hurt!
The Nevada Highway Patrol is working with the pilot of a small plane who landed alongside Highway 80/95 in Churchill County Wednesday afternoon.
The pilot landed shortly after 2PM on the shoulder of the highway, southwest of Lovelock, because of engine trouble.
There is no report of serious injury, though the NHP says the plane sustained minor damage.
I’ve always been very afraid of flying in small planes, rationally or not. Great news that the pilot was okay, but this story just kinda reinforces that for me. What do you think?
